Job Description: CYA Childcare Team Member (Infants to School-Aged Children)

Position: Direct Childcare Team Member
Location: Choteau, Montana
Employment Type: Part-time or Full-time
Wage: Starting Range $13-17.00/HR DOE

Summary:
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated CYA Childcare Team Members to join our licensed childcare facility in Choteau, Montana. As a member of the CYA Childcare Team, you will play a crucial role in providing a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for infants to school-aged children under our care. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the well-being and development of the children by implementing age-appropriate activities, maintaining a clean and organized space, and supporting their emotional, social, and educational growth. The position of Direct Childcare Team Member can be part-time or full-time, depending on the needs of the childcare facility and the availability of the candidate.

About the Choteau Youth Alliance:
The Choteau Youth Alliance (CYA) is a non-profit focused on enabling the youth of Choteau to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens. The CYA opened a licensed childcare operation in January 2024 on the second story above the Trinity Lutheran Preschool.

Responsibilities:

Supervision and Care
-Provide constant supervision and attentive care to infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-aged children.
-Assist in feeding, diapering, and potty training as needed for younger children.
-Support and encourage independence in daily routines and activities for older children.
-Ensure safety protocols are followed at all times and respond promptly to any emergencies or accidents.

Age-Appropriate Programming
-Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities, games, and learning experiences for children of varying age groups.
-Encourage creativity, cognitive development, and social interaction through play and guided activities.
-Incorporate educational elements into playtime and daily routines to foster a stimulating learning environment.

Emotional and Social Support
-Foster a warm and caring atmosphere that promotes emotional well-being and a sense of security for the children.
-Help children navigate social interactions and resolve conflicts in a positive manner.
-Communicate with parents and guardians to provide updates on their child's progress and address any concerns.

Cleanliness and Organization
-Maintain a clean and hygienic environment by sanitizing toys, surfaces, and equipment regularly.
-Keep childcare spaces organized and tidy to facilitate smooth operations and ensure a safe environment.

Record Keeping
-Document important information, including daily activities, incidents, and notable interactions with children, for reference and communication with parents/guardians.

Collaboration
-Work collaboratively with other childcare workers, teachers, and staff to maintain a cohesive and supportive team environment.

Other Duties as Assigned
-Be flexible and willing to assist with tasks and responsibilities beyond the core job description as needed.
-This may include, inter alia, supporting administrative tasks, helping with special events, attending staff meetings, or assisting with facility maintenance.

Qualifications:
-High school diploma or equivalent (a degree in early childhood education or related field is a plus).
-Previous experience in childcare or a related field is preferred but not required.
-Familiarity with Montana state childcare regulations and guidelines.
-First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
-Patience, compassion, and a genuine love for working with children.
-Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
-Successful background check required.
-Additional state or organization required training (or willingness to obtain).
